Maybe this goes back to the Mayflower & the Puritans.....

I am aware of a peculiar politicized fringe of radical Christians shaking the bone of creation in Europe, but most Europeans even the most religious among them (Italy, Spain) are too rational to get on the bandwagon.
In France, Germany & England, churches are closing because of a lack of people willing to enter priesthood, religion is moribund. But there is certainly a market for pseudo-scientific, superstitious & credulous hogwash in Eastern Europe.
Here in Japan i can assure you that the threat of religiosity is not a problem. Japanese are certainly the less religious people on earth, They just don't give a damn.
Usually for wedding ceremony, a Japanese couple will attend a church ceremony with white dress, funny singing etc....because it is fashionable & romantic for the Ladies, then will go to the temple to perform a ceremony which is in fact a mix of old traditional Japanese Shinto religion, and modern Buddhism.UnkindByDesignhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09373163740346564700noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4760967123218143470.post-88652237749629552132007-02-10T08:11:00.000-08:002007-02-10T08:11:00.000-08:00Helio:Would that it were so. Some of this is due to the insidious efforts of people like Ken Ham and his ilk in the US, but it can only take hold because stupidity is international.Archaeopteryxhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10627784327758008867noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4760967123218143470.post-89479637179734844752007-02-10T05:09:00.000-08:002007-02-10T05:09:00.000-08:00Schad, right on target...Questions. why is the Uni...Schad, right on target...

Questions. why is the United States of America among modern & industrialized nations, the only country where issue such as creation versus evolution is still the focus of intense official & public debate. What is the reason for such resistance, denying & confrontation to scientific empiricism at the dawn of the 21th century.UnkindByDesignhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09373163740346564700noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4760967123218143470.post-78084709583184607032007-02-09T17:01:00.000-08:002007-02-09T17:01:00.000-08:00Ender: nice one.Schad: disagree - ghost is good fo...Ender: nice one.

Schad: disagree - ghost is good for the fray, as are you.Dawn Coyotehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05878588090733942606noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4760967123218143470.post-30773268001001007602007-02-09T16:58:00.000-08:002007-02-09T16:58:00.000-08:00I couldn't be more proud.I couldn't be more proud.Archaeopteryxhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10627784327758008867noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4760967123218143470.post-70985937614385450212007-02-09T12:16:00.000-08:002007-02-09T12:16:00.000-08:00I'm bored.JV-12: Most of my interaction with him ...I'm bored.

JV-12: Most of my interaction with him has been positive, but when he's on the subject of his religion (the very fringes of medieval superstition) there's no point in talking to him.

I'm rather surprised at his disingenuous use of the "transitional fossils" argument. The reason that he doesn't find pictures of them is that they don't exist. The terminology was invented by creationists as a strawman. (What JV-12 means by "transitional" appears to be something like a lizard caught in the act of turning into a penguin).

Ghost's last post in that thread is just one more piece of evidence that he/she is too good for the Fray.

Feeling evil: ghost's question led me to think that Iso's loss is just about the maximum possible. All of the resources have been used in raising the child to adulthood, but the young adult dies before realizing any return. This seems to make a certain amount of sense - when a newborn baby dies it's much less of a tragedy then when a three-year-old dies, etc.

Ducadmo: I've long suspected him of being an idiot.
