So, I was feeling nostalgic the other day...

and I thought I'd put my finger on the pulse of my favorite liberal blog.

Switters, you've become an internet legend - sort of the Kos boogeyman. An internet immortal.

Those pinheads ought to be thanking you - the man who continues to make them feel all righteous and indignant, even in absence.

Thank God you're there. Even when you're not.

[I'm proud enough of my own cleverness that I'd appreciate people giving those last three links a thumbs up, before the kossites get wind and bury them]

you mean the three links over right under "recommended?"

nevermind. i guess you were talking about recommending the posts about switters. i don't see a link for doing that...only it does should what the score already is.

oh well.

Hi C'napping!

Nah, I was talking about my links to urbandictionary. You can thumbs-up or thumbs-down the definitions.

Urbandictionary - sort of like Wikipedia, without even the illusion of standards.

Do you suppose the new trolls feel cheated that someone else is getting credit for their trollery?

TenaciousK said...

I certainly would!

What fun is it to aspire to notoriety, only to be mistaken for some more venerable notorious figure?

OTOH, I'm thinking that the term "Switters" might eventually become sort of a label itself - descriptive, as opposed to identifying.

Really, I have only the warmest thoughts for those trusted users over there at Dailykos, and their confused little hearts, and muddled little heads. And thank God they're spending so much time online; who knows what mischief they'd be up to, were they running rampant, in organized troll-hunting groups, in the broader world?

Honest-to-God, I don't get how people intelligent enough to construct sentences with punctuation and everything don't "get" Swit--and seem to be proud of the fact that they don't.

Tards.

"There are still BotF switters-type trolls floating around here.

They can be identified by the tortured attempts at 'style' in their diaries, and by the condescending and cryptic attitude they display in their comments.

They fancy themselves brilliant satirists, and always dismiss their critics as unenlightened, uncomprehending dullards who don't 'get it.'

They ran rampant here last spring, but most of them were driven off or left on their own. You can still find a few of them, mostly in the comments area. Engaging with them is pointless, though, because they see themselves so far above this community, and they are only here to goad you."

In light of all the Echo Maker discussions on identity we've been having, an in situ example of what happens when you mix concrete thinking and unresolved ambivalence.

You just can't fabricate one that good.

Arch: I believe the correct term is "fucktard".

TenaciousK said...

Er, I meant fucktard.

isn't cyberwarfare fun?

Oh, hardly warfare.

Thumbs WAY up, baby. Hilarious. And yes, I DO still post over there. After I hit TU status, I'm gonna let loose on Rita like a ton of bricks.

Still waiting for TU status, eh, rundeep?

Do you mean Rita from DC? You've mentioned her before. Why the fixation on her? AFAIK, she hasn't posted at dKos for a while now.

Thanks for the heads-up, though. If I see her around, I'll let her know of your plans.

Egad - our nefarious plot's been revealed!

Damn the public internet! Damn, damn, damn!

Don't worry, Misterioso - I'm sure there are boatloads of people perceiving vast internet conspiracies coalescing against them who couldn't fairly be called paranoid.
